Big Kenny will be the 2nd US recipient of the African Children’s Choir Malaika Award. In recognition of his work in the Sudan, The African Children’s Choir will present the Malaika Award to Big Kenny during its 4th Annual Benefit Gala in New York City on December 3rd and will perform with the choir that morning on CBS This Morning at 7/6c. As the ACC’s most prestigious form of recognition, the Malaika Award is presented to individuals for outstanding work on behalf of Africa’s most vulnerable children. The statuette is symbolic of the beauty, hardship, and hope found in many African faces. To date, five individuals have been presented with The Malaika Award including Rt. Hon Gordon Brown MP, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; President George Bush for his approval of legislation combating HIV/AIDS and other diseases in Africa, and most recently to Sir Bob Geldorf. Tickets can be purchased at here.

Big & Rich has been announced as the recipient of the CRS 2013 Artist Humanitarian Award, to be presented at Country Radio Seminar on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013.

Big & Rich’s charitable endeavors date back more than a decade and are too numerous to mention individually. Their humanitarian efforts have ranged from visiting individual patients in hospitals, to staging benefit concerts for the Country Music Hall of Fame and the 173rd Airborne Memorial, to their well-documented U.S. and international outreach. The duo has made a point throughout their career to help underprivileged children and families in struggling countries like Uganda, Sudan, Haiti and Kenya, among others.
