Father/Daughter Bonding...At The Gun Club...
now, most people will prolly read the title of this blog and go "what father takes his DAUGHTER to a gun club for bonding time?" my response: MY DADDY. it's been our thing for about 8 years now and it's the time on the weekend where we go out to the hunt club that my dad's friend owns, surround ourselves with firearms, shoot at clay targets and have fun. i don't know what "normal father/daughter bonding" is for the rest of the world, because this IS normal for me. and i love every second of it. it's just me and my dad out in the country doin' what we love...he shoots, i pull 5-stand or skeet or whatever (for those of you who don't speak hunting lingo that all involves clay targets). and when we're out, my dad and i talk about anything and everything. politics, world affairs, boys, school, work, music, sports, whatever we can think of. and today, we started talking about my future. obviously, as most (if not all) of you know, i'm no longer going to school out in los angeles. but that doesn't mean that i've stopped chasing the musical dream, oh no. i just need to find a better approach to achieving it. so my dad and i were talking about what i'm going to do now that i'm home and i said that i'd like to get a job somewhere and have a bit of income for myself. so my dad and i bounced ideas off of one another and the best one we came up with was this: my dad is in the advertising industry and so works with most of the major radio stations in st. louis (and all over the US for that matter), so my dad came up with the brilliant idea of getting me an internship at a radio station. he told me that i'd prolly start out doing little things around the station, but there was always the chance that i could get some on-air time. the way he put it really turned me on to the idea, so most likely this week, my dad's gonna start talking to his connections in the radio world and see if he can land me a job at one of the major classic rock stations here in town. i'm prayin' that it works out cuz that would just be a sweet job. and besides, working in the radio world, you never know who you could meet...
