Idol Comments
You know I just got finished reading John Rich's comments about american idol. I think it was awful that a man who I thought had some tact and consideration could rant the way he did. I agree the mistake Paula made was outragous but I was in the audiance that day and it was a cluster because of the last minute changes the judges didnt even know about. The problem I think is that a lot of artists felt like idol would be a flash in the pan, just another stupid reality show (like gone country) which WAS just another stupid reality show that did'nt really do anything for anyone. Anyway because idol has actually been a great show and has done some incredible things for very good singers some seem to be a bit jealous maybe. Idol has not only started the carers of some fine entertainers but also raises money for great things in this world....Did Gone Country do that?? No they just took a bunch of wannabe country singers who are pretty much washed up and made them look stupid. Anyway soory so long but i was very disappointed with Mr. Rich and will not be buying any more records from him or listening to him at all. Very sad day.....

Idol Comments/John Rich
You know, I'll probably stir up a hornets nest by making some comments, so I'll preface this by saying AI (American Idol) in the beginning had a very good concept. For some reason, the concept has changed.
Now, I've come to the conclusion AI has become more of a'popularity' contest than an actual 'talent' contest.
Unfortunately, ALL programs currently on the air devoted to 'talent' or 'skill-level'(see Dancin' with the Stars) have become so.
Me,personally, I can offer an opinion of Simon, Paula and Randy that would do nothing but offend people, therefore I'll keep such opinions to myself for the time being. The only way AI will gain my interest is to provide an honest,
accurate evaluation of talent without all the B.S. that is on the program now. Sure, going behind the scenes, pre-production meetings, etc is necessary, but, when the production team don't have a clue...HUH???? I believe I could have done that good (and I'M not qualified !!!).
Let's get back to the 'original' concept. Makes for a better show.
There are some quotes which
There are some quotes which are much more brief than others. The more extensive quotes bring a slightly different aspect to the quotes, in that he's commenting on the affront to an artist that it is to comment on a performance that the audience didn't see. I think he's got a point on that issue, in that the performers deserve to have the comments be based on the performance which is broadcast.
By the way, there's a Gone Country 2 in the works. Broadcast begins in August. While there may not be any breakout country artist from it, it was a hit for ratings. It will be interesting to see if the second season gets similar ratings.
