I just wanted to say thank you to Big & Rich for bringing this story to light. Being 22 I know I haven't experienced a lot in my life, and to imagine that guys my age were fighting for this country during Vietnam is sad!!! It's also a reminder to me that I have a friend, who's also 22, serving in Iraq for a 3rd time...Stay safe Alex!!!

Thank you Big and Rich, and thank you to all of our service men and women who have served in Vietnam, Iraq, WWI and II, Korea, and any other times I'm missing!!! THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!

AMEN AND GOD SPEED!!!

I have to admit I wasn't big fan of the two of you. But when I saw your video and listened to the music the 8th of November I was floored. I liked it so much I've seen it now probably a dozen times and everytime it gets to me. I flew aboard the USS Kitty Hawk on April 1st 1969 in the Gulf of Tonkin. I spent the next six months of that cruise and nine months of the next cruise working the fight deck helping to launch Alpha strikes against North Vietnam or close air support for our troops. I just can't help it I always wind up with tears just streaming down my face when I think about all the young men who died fighting this War and I still don't know why. It could have easily been me if I had joined the Army or Marine Corps instead of the Navy. This generation grew up with John Wayne, Audy Murphy & Robert Mitchum. We either rushed off to join up or we got drafted right out of High School. We came home to protesters and flag burnings. We couldn't even wear our uniforms and take pride in what we had done. It gets me all emotional to see all the support our troops receive in this present war. They deserve it and more. Unless you have been there you just don't understand the sacrifices a serviceman makes. Keep it up the 8th of Navember means a lot to the veterans of this country. Mike Blocker, Fighter Squadron VF-213 aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, 04/01/1969 to 09/1971

Thank you for a wonderful song

Big Kenny and John

Thank you for such a wonderful song. My uncle John Ysker served in Vietnam and used to have really bad flashbacks. It was not a pretty war, and I am so proud of the recognition that the Vietnam veterans receive today. A lot of it is thanks to you guys. I served my country for four years in the United States Navy. I was not in a war but, it was a difficult time being away from family. I left home at the age of 20. That was probably the hardest thing I had ever done and the bravest. This is by far the greatest song you guys have ever written. Keep up the good work.

AMAZING

I'M ONLY 27 Y/O SO I DONT KNOW FIRST HAND BUT I HAVE TREATED PATIENTS WHO FOUGHT IN VIETNAM AS WELL AS RECENT WARS. SOME OF THE STORIES AND HARDSHIPS THEY HAVE FACED AS WELL AS OVERCOME SINCE THEN MAKE THEM SOME OF THE MOST AMAZING PEOPLE IN MY EYES. TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THEIR HEADS UP AND CARRY ON AFTER WHAT THEY HAD GONE THROUGH AND THE WAY THEY WERE TREATED WHEN THEY CAME HOME PUT THEM AT THE TOP OF MY LIST AS FAR AS HEROES GO. THERE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN A BETTER TRIBUTE TO ALL OF THESE PEOPLE THAN THIS SONG. IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN SAID ANY BETTER, THANK YOU TO JOHN RICH AND BIG KENNY FOR ANOTHER AWESOME SONG AND VIDEO AS WELL AS A BIG THANKS TO ALL THE VETERANS WHO HAVE FOUGHT AND THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE STILL FIGHTING FOR WHAT THEY THINK IS RIGHT.

Thank You

I don't know that I have any direct connection to the 173rd, but my daddy fought in 'Nam. I thank God for being able to have him home alive. But as I thank God for that I also thank Him for the lives that were taken in giving us our freedom. There is no greater honor in this world than a man or woman who sets aside a "normal" life to go and fight for the Red White and Blue. Thank You John and Kenny for such an emotional and touching song. Come Memorial Day I plan to get my entire family together and sit down and watch the video. I pray my sibling see in our Soldiers what I always have....HEROS!

My husband is one of the survivors of this battle and we cannot thank Kenny and John enough for writing this song and telling this story. When Kenny and John were in Seattle in 2006, we went to their concert with Niles and 2 other survivors. They were all invited up on the stage and John announced that this was the first time that they had 4 survivors of that battle with them. When the fellows walked out on the stage over 50,000 people stood up and cheered! The fellows finally got their "Welcome Home"! My husband had lost contact with his "Brothers" but has been refinding them over the past 8 years. Even though many of them had lost contact with each other, they all tell the same story - on November 8th they would all have a "tall one"! Even 42 years later, none of their fallen brothers have been forgotten! Thank you again Kenny and John for writing such a beautiful song about a horrible battle! And Welcome Home to all Vietnam Vets!

Thank you. There are no words for what I am feeling right now. My brother was in the 173rd and in 1968, was forever taken from our lives. You have honored him and all his brothers of the 173rd in a magnificent and profound way.

Thank you.

Every now and again, a music video comes along that creates a life of its own. Such is the 8th of November. Those of us in my generation knew someone; loved someone; or was someone who endured the horror that was Vietnam. A buddy of mine lost his brother that horrible day. For years, he and I would get together, or at least communicate and "order a tall one" in honor of his brother and his brother's brothers in arms. My buddy died last year. But, you can bet, that on the 8th of November, I'll be there...ordering that tall one, and remembering those who gave their lives so that we can be free. Rest in peace buddy. And tell Billy I said "YO"! Thanks you guys, and best wishes to you Niles.
