Hi John,
Loved you work with Big and Rich and now with Nashville Star. However, I feel I must educate you with some Country music history. Gabe Garcia is not the first Latino country singer/star in Country Music. The fans have enjoyed the talents of latinos in country music perhaps as far back as the 1950's and perhaps earlier. Have you heard of Marty Robbins? Marty was part Mexican American/part Polish American---his western flavored music was a major part of his catalog. And what about Johnny Rodriguez? Johnny was discovered by Tom T Hall and Bobby Bare in 1971 and with a brief internship as the lead guitarist for Hall's Storytellers, he was the Kenny Chesney--the sex symbol for young Country in the 1970's . Johnny recorded songs in both in Spanish and English--Born to Lose, Love Put A Song in My Heart, Eres Tu, If Practice Makes Perfect etc.. And what about the late Freddy Fender? The BeepBop kid? Freddy also recorded in Spanish and English, whose career was revived, like his rockabilly colleague Charlie Rich, Sr, in the 1970's and then he revamped his career in the 1990's with the Texas Tornados. And how about Raul Malo? Rosie Perez? and Rick Trevino? John, I think the Latino influence is still alive in Country--and you yourself is making sure of that with Julio Inglesis Jr and hopefully Gabe Garcia---although not with the title of Nashville Star, hopefully with a good career ahead of him.
John, Keep it Country and Keep up the good work!
Cheers!

John...love your style and honesty! Red's my favorite color and your red jacket was hot last week on Nashville Star!!! Saw you at the Mohegan Sun in Uncansville...Great show! ~Cheetah~
Did anyone see Nashville Star last night???? What in heavens name was Jewel singing ?? Or trying to sing??? sounded more like screeching to me..It was pretty bad...
I like that you are a judge on the Nashville Star!! You don't beat around the bush, you tell them how it is. If you were to beat around the bush then they would not get any better. I am glad that you like Melissa a lot, but you are still criticizing her, to make her better and not to settle in where she is at!! The one thing that I can't believe, is that you are allowing the show to give away a TOYOTA. Country music is about America, CHEVY, or at worse a Ford. I don't like the fact that they have turned part of this like American Idol. I liked the fact that they did not make them sing a different style of music, but this year they had to, but turn the song to country. Over All, I still watch the show. Thanks for your time.
You must be from Minnasota or Chicago and be hard of hearing. John Rich tells contestants that they are not country yet opens with a rapp artist in boots and cowboy hat. How stupid does he think we are?
John Rich is so HOT!!!! The Lord has blessed him with so many things. He is a talented singer, songwriter, and musician. He is so hot and sexy. He has a voice that captivates me, a smile that melts me, and eye that you just get lost in. It is like being lost in the ocean and not even caring when you look into his eyes. I love all the music that Big & Rich have made as well as John's first solo album. I am looking forward to his new solo and the return of Big Kenny. I wish them both continued success and look forward to new songs from them both. I wish that I could meet John, just to get a picture with him. We all have our fantasies, John Rich is my fantasy.

Are Big & Rich country? First of all, we need to decide what exactly country music is. I think there are many types of "country" music - phases if you will - and I love all of them. (check this out, and you'll see what I mean... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_music)I think some people just pick out a generation of country music they like best, and brand that as "country". Every generation is different, but it's all considered "country" -from the singing cowboys, like Gene Autry and Bob Wills, to the more sophisticated Patsy Cline and 'Gentleman' Jim Reeves, to the honky tonkers like Merle Haggard, George Jones and Johnny Paycheck. And don't forget the outlaw country - where would "country music" be without outlaws like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson?! Are the singers that drifted away from the original country sounds sell outs? Or did they just decide to be different? Look at how everyone treated Hank Jr. when he decided to do his own thing. I'm glad he made it through all of the people critising him for "not being country" and the radio stations not touching his songs. Now he's one of the most popular "country" singers around. Some people even consider Elvis to be "country"...
So, if you can tell me what makes Big & Rich UN-country, please, let me know. And consider this...
"One infrequent, but consistent theme in country music is that of proud, stubborn independence."
What's country about lighting things that are sacred to others on fire. And Rapp is not country no matter what style of hat or boots you wear. And i would think that John Rich would would be able to at least write some funny jokes for the little person to tell instead of humiliating him on stage. I felt sorry for him and the fact that he is being exploited even though i'm sure he makes a nice wage. I guess everyone has a price. In your closing line I think you forgot respect for others beliefs

All I can say is that I was a fan until I see Rich sportin his helicopter and fur coat action on his new show. I was appalled and have lost respect since then. Fortunately, the true country artist are still out there, which I do not have to name. Hopefully, Rich will see these and re-adjust his fame alittle.
As for the helicopter... the only thing I can come up with, and this goes for the fur coat and bling as well, he IS a country music pimp and he's playing the part well (he is an entertainer after all). He has jump started several musicians careers, wrote songs, and produced records for them. Right now, love him or hate him, he is the man. He is getting attention from his fans and his non-fans... everyone is watching him to see what he's going to do next. That is apparent by the comments on this site from people who do not like him. There has to be some appeal or they wouldn't be here on a BIG & RICH website, they would be on a website dedicated to the country music star they DO like. Unless these people have nothing better to do and are just trying to rile his fans up...? I am NOT a fan of Sean Combs(I found the earlier link trying to find out if John's fur coat was real.). I do not have anything against him or his fans; to each his own. I simply do not find him interesting enough to visit his website and leave comments telling the world that I am not his fan or to tell his fans that they do not know what real rap music is just because they happen to like his style of rap instead of, say, Will Smiths or Eminems (OK...even I had to smile at that one... lol). Or even to tell them that the coats he makes were made from dog fur....
(But don't worry...according to wikipedia, as soon as Combs found out about this, he had his clothing line stop using the material: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Combs. So don't leave any hateful comments on his site. I'm sure by now you were already on your way over there...)
WOW!!!! That's all I can say. What a show. No LESS than American Idol or any other reality show. Makes my Monday night seeing John! What a hottie!! FANTASY BABY!! How can you diss him when he is where he is. WOW, get over yourselves. Where are you and where is he?? LOVE HIM!!!

Hasn't made it yet? You have got to be kidding, was that a joke? 36 top 40 singles and winning 3 ASCAP awards 3 years in a row! That's not making it, yeah ok. You guys are too funny who seriously think this stuff. Oh and yeah, Big & Rich aren't country that's why they have performed at the Grand Ole Opry and have been on the CMA's like 5 times and alot of other things.
For all of you "haters" and so-called artists-you only WISH you had half of the talent and success that Kenny and John have. And to say that John doesn't know country or the country music business?? Are you serious?? All I know is that Big and Rich bring this old lady joy and happiness through their music, and I listen to a lot more country music because of them. Thank you guys!!
Hey John! You rock on Nashville Star! I would listen to any advice you had for me! I wish I would have made it to the show this year, I hope you are still a judge when I do get on the show. You have worked so hard to get to the level you are at and I know how hard the country music ladder is to climb! Love Monday Nights on NBC!!!! God Bless!

Saw the show last night in CT (went just to see you even though Gretchen was headlining....) Wish I could have been one of the lucky ones to go on-stage when you sang "Lost in this Moment". When you come back to Mass or Ct I think you should bring me up on the stage instead of couples and you can sing to me. And no I am not the 16 year old girl....

At your next concert, you should have a sign language interpreter on stage. Country music is beautiful when signed. It shows multi-level expression and is just darn cool. Sometimes, I sit on my porch and sign to the radio. It's also something that no other country music artist has done yet! :)

If you could take the contestants into the studio and record full versions of the songs they perform and have them available on iTunes like they did this season on American Idol. Melissa Lawson is fantastic and I would pay for her performances as I am sure many others would do for others. John, you are an amazing businessman and I think this would be right up you alley.
John, you need to come to Pittsburgh on your tour, and you and kenny both need to come back to visit once you are touring together again. We need to see you guys. Cowboy Troy will be here at the end of the month and I will be there but u guys would be even better.

I love the way he makes me laugh every week. He's drop dead gorgeous! He definetly knows talent when he hears it and sees it!!!! I can't wait to see him perform with the winner of nashville star at the 2008 summer olympics!! I hope and pray its GABE GARCIA!!! And yes!, Gabe can sing anywhere, anytime with george strait, rascal flatts and the man himself keith urban. I'd pay money to see him (Gabe),sing with kenny chesney. Yee-Haw!!! well that's all folks!
John Rich
Yes he makes me laugh every week when he opens his mouth and nothing intelligent comes out of his mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!He says you have to be tough to make it in the music business I guess that's why he hasn't made it yet...................
what??
Big and rich made it farther than most!! they are beyond far my favorite COUNTRY band and always will b. who are you to say they havnt made it? ask five people if they know who big and rich are or sing 1 of their many famous songs and i bet 4 out of 5 people kno who they are or at least their songs!
John Rich
Hasn't made it yet? You have got to be kidding, was that a joke? 36 top 40 singles and winning 3 ASCAP awards 3 years in a row! That's not making it, yeah ok. You guys are too funny who seriously think this stuff. Oh and yeah, Big & Rich aren't country that's why they have performed at the Grand Ole Opry and have been on the CMA's like 5 times and alot of other things.
"haters"-
For all of you "haters" and so-called artists-you only WISH you had half of the talent and success that Kenny and John have. And to say that John doesn't know country or the country music business?? Are you serious?? All I know is that Big and Rich bring this old lady joy and happiness through their music, and I listen to a lot more country music because of them. Thank you guys!!
Nashville Star
God Bless!

John you rocked!!!
Sayin' a prayer
John and Kenny I hope y'all come to Michigan soon.
What's up with that?!
Your fans in southern Indiana want to know why there isn't a show listed for 2008?! We've driven to Evansville IN, Fort Knox KY, but we just can't swing Las Vegas! Might you add some more dates to your list? You guys rock, and John, loving every moment they play James Otto on the radio!
trueblue fans, the Koehlers
Hey John!!!
At your next concert, you should have a sign language interpreter on stage. Country music is beautiful when signed. It shows multi-level expression and is just darn cool. Sometimes, I sit on my porch and sign to the radio. It's also something that no other country music artist has done yet! :)
Love your music & the idea behind the mafia
John!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen!
How on Earth has no woman gotten her paws on you!

You are an amazing talent. I hang on your every word. My favorite times were always happening while listening to Big & Rich. Good memories plus good muzik and I'm on fire for life.

My favorite cd was the one you released with the Galatic Fan Pack with Bob the pirate! It makes me laugh so hard. You guys are such a riot.
********************************************************************I see your birthday and mine are only a couple days apart SO! I say we party together for our birthday. I'll bake the cake if you buy the Crown!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
********************************************************************
I also will always be one of the first in line whenever you release a cd and I liked your book and I love your energy in concert and your outlook on life and your focus in life. You remind me of Ty Murray in the way that you both are so dedicated at your niche in life. You're both fine examples to young men in our world

P.S. Jalapeno definately should have been released as a single!
It would be great......
Touring
John, you need to come to Pittsburgh on your tour, and you and kenny both need to come back to visit once you are touring together again. We need to see you guys. Cowboy Troy will be here at the end of the month and I will be there but u guys would be even better.
San Angelo comment on Nashville Star
Ok, Mr. Rich, I have to know what you know about San Angelo.... I heard you tell Gabe something about singing in a honky tonk in San Angelo...that's not a place people just pull out of their heads so I am just curious as to what you really know about San Angelo??? I just thought it was so funny to hear San Angelo, TX on the the television!!!! Well, I will await your response, I am sure you will write me back personally. HA! HA! And, yes, I do know alot about San Angelo which is why I asked the question.
Coming to South Fl??
I wish Big and Rich would come to South Florida. Hint hint
